Artist-in-residence Welcome Evening

Thursday 27 January 2011, 6.00pm to 7.00pm

Everyone is welcome to pop into the studio at Impressions and join us in celebrating the arrival of our international artist-in-residence Gohar Dashti.

We will be showing photographs of Bradford taken by a group of local people in November 2010, as a way of introducing Gohar to the city and celebrating its rich cultures and diverse environments.

Gohar, who currently lives in Tehran, will spend a month based at Impressions Gallery, Bradford, exploring the cities culture and landscape and meeting with local people.  Anne McNeill, Director of Impressions Gallery said, “We’re delighted to have this amazing opportunity to welcome an acclaimed Iran-based artist to Bradford.”

Gohar will be taking part in Visiting Arts’ ambitious 1mile² ("one square mile") project, which is supported by Bradford Metropolitan District Council and DCMS. 1mile² is an innovative international programme that connects communities in Bangladesh, China, India, Iran, Pakistan, South Africa and the UK, by inviting them to take part in events and artistic activities that examine the culture and environment of their city. Bradford is one of the first UK cities to take part in the programme. For more information about the 1mile² project click here.

This event is free and refreshments will be provided
