Talk with Murray Ballard: How to genetically modify a tomato and other things we eat

13 September 2011, 1.30pm to 3.00pm

Production of genetically-modified foods is a mystery to many
. Over the past year Murray Ballard and Elliot Hammer, a photographer and a graphic designer have visited the John Innes Centre - Europe's largest independent research facility for the study of plant science and microbiology - with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of genetic modification technology and its applications.

Their findings have been collated into a newspaper and exhibition, which will be on display in the Studio at Impressions Gallery as part of the British Science Festival from 10 September to 15 September 2011.

Find out more about the project at this discussion with Murray, Elliot and members of the research teams, and explore behind the laboratory door to discover how the science is done and meet the scientists working to improve British crop foods.

Free event, drop in.
