Feed Your Mind

Thursday 18 August 2016, 12.00pm to 1.00pm

Join us for an informal insight into our exhibition, Rock Against Racism,
led by Paul Furness, key figure in the Leeds Rock Against Racism group
and founder of the Leeds RAR club.

Syd Shelton’s images document the groundbreaking movement formed by musicians and political activists to fight racism through music, from 1976 to 1981. Rock Against Racism had a strong northern following, and the Leeds RAR club was one of the most important and long-lasting. Paul Furness, who was instrumental in staging Rock Against Racism’s second gig, will discuss the scene in Bradford, the fanzine Temporary Hoarding, and his involvement in the movement from its very beginning.
