Artist Talk with Yan Wang Preston

Saturday 13 May 2017, 2.00pm to 3.00pm

Hear Yan Wang Preston speak about Mother River and tell the epic stories behind the making of the  work.

Mother River is a photographic odyssey along the entire Yangtze River. Made over four years,  the epic project follows a simple premise: to document the 6,211km route of the river from source to delta, using a strict Y Points System to photograph every 100 kilometres. Preston travelled to the remote high Tibetan Plateau through the Three Gorges to the river’s end at Shanghai, finding and photographing sixty-three locations in incredibly diverse and often remote terrain.

Mother River is part of Views from China, a special six month programme of exhibitions and events at Impressions, taking a fresh look at Chinese culture and the long standing links between the UK and China.
