Impressions Celebrates Arts Award Success

Fri, 11th Oct, 2013

Last Friday, Impressions completed its first Arts Award sessions and we are very pleased to announce that all of the young people who took part have successfully achieved a Bronze Arts Award Qualification.

The group, made up of 7 young people between the ages of 13 and 19, have met monthly with advisor Katriona Skinner, Gallery Co-ordinator (Education and Audience Development), to experience new art activites and take part in workshops.

Using themes from our exhibitions as a starting point the group worked together to explore different artistic mediums such as photography, print making, animation, collage and writing to create individual portfolios of work. Alongside these activities, the group attended talks on exhibitions, took part in visual literacy sessions and completed gallery trails. In achieving the Bronze Award, the group have had a more meaningful engagement with the work on display.

Arts Award is a great way for young people to be inspired by and enjoy the arts and provides a framework for learning new skills and sharing them. The award is run by Arts Council England and Trinity Guildhall and is a nationally accredited qualification. As well as having trained advisors in Bronze, Silver and Gold Arts Awards, Impressions is also an Arts Award Supporter. To find our more about what we can offer you or your students click here.
