Impressions Summer Intern Scoops Career Development Award

Fri, 11th Oct, 2013

Impressions is delighted to announce that our Summer Intern Shaila Hamid has been awarded the University of Bradford’s Summer Experience Career Development Award.

Shaila worked at Impressions for six weeks during the summer as part of the University of Bradford’s Summer Experience paid internship scheme. This programme offers students the opportunity to gain hands on experience in local and regional businesses and organisations, helping to nurture skills and talent for post graduate success.

Shaila joined our front of house team, playing a key part in bringing our summer exhibition, Ever Young by James Barnor, to the gallery walls. From creating visitor information to painting the gallery and hanging artwork, Shaila was an enthusiastic and pro-active member of the team.

Shaila is now employed as a Saturday Gallery Assistant at Impressions and has joined New Focus, our young peoples advisory board. Already she has contributed to the New Focus blog and has been involved in our collaborative project and exhibition Changing Bradford, with her photographs appearing in the exhibition’s accompanying publication.

The award was presented by Professor Shhirley Congdon, Pro Vice-Chancellor, University of Bradford, and Sandy Needham, Chief Executive of Bradford Chamber of Commerce, at the Summer Experience Award Presentation evening held at the University of Bradford. Impressions is pleased to be able to support the scheme and looks forward to collaborating with the University on future projects.
