Impressions Gallery

From Bradford With Love

Sat, 11th Nov, 2017

A special display of postcards created in our From Bradford, With Love pop up photo studio is on show at Impressions Gallery from 11 November to 30 December 2017.

The display will also be shown on the Bradford Big Screen outside Impressions Gallery at 2pm everyday until Saturday 30 December.

Inspired by our exhibition No Man's Land we ran a pop up photo studio outside Impressions Gallery and in City Park in October 2017. Anyone could have their portrait taken by a photographer, for free. We turned the pictures into postcards, and asked the people who took part to add their own message to someone they love.

The photo studio was inspired by our exhibition No Man’s Land: Women's Photography and the First World War. During the First World War, people sent many thousands of photographic postcards sent to friends and family with messages of love.

From Bradford With Love is supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

Photographer: Lucy Barker. With thanks to Sarah Deane, Abby Walker and the people of Bradford for sharing their messages.
