The Photographers' Gallery curator Stephanie Braun introduces this year's four nominees:

The four shortlisted artists (Anna Fox, Zoe Leonard, Sophie Ristelhueber and Donovan Wylie) will have their work shown at The Photographers’ Gallery, London from 12 February to 2 May 2010, and later in Berlin and Frankfurt. The winner, who will receive £30,000, will be announced at a special ceremony on 17 March.

More about Cockroach Diary & other stories

Cockroach Diary & other stories
is Fox’s first major survey show and brings together a number of photographic works spanning 25 years. Her often autobiographical and darkly comic images demonstrate a fascination for both the ordinary and the bizarre in British life.

Anne McNeill, Director of Impressions Gallery and curator of Cockroach Diary & other stories, said ‘Anna is one of the most significant photographers working in Britain since the1980s, and I am delighted that her contribution has been recognised by this prestigious award. Her nomination reflects the international reputation of the Gallery and the significant role that Impressions plays at the forefront of photography’.
