Following the route of the herring fleet from Shetland to Great Yarmouth, FISHERWOMEN celebrates the traditional and contemporary importance of women to the fishing industry.
Large-format portraits of former ‘herring lassies’ are accompanied by anecdote and memories of this band of women only workers – a unique phonemenon in the history of British working women – and presented alongside b&w landscapes of the route they travelled. Contemporary portraits of today’s fisherwomen complete the work – a large-format 15”x11” portfolio available in two editions:
Portfolio Edition (limited to 500): £23
Artist’s Edition (in hardback cover with original 12”x16” print, limited to 50): £180
