Inspired by the exhibition Costing the Earth, discover the art of sustainable string making in this fun, eco-friendly introductory workshop with artist Alice Fox.

Working with repurposed materials, including paper, cloth and plastic, this workshop introduces the technique of cordage (string) making.

Combining basic techniques with an experimental approach, this workshop has an emphasis on process and will provide you with the skills to experiment further.

South Square Centre

Costing the Earth is presented at South Square Centre in Thornton, Bradford. This venue for arts, heritage and community consists of galleries, a shop, artist studios, a café, and a garden. South Square Centre is located in former workers’ cottages in the village of Thornton, which has a rich history intertwined with the textile industry.

    Alice Fox is an artist based in West Yorkshire. Using her textiles-based skill set and techniques from soft basketry, she works with plant fibres and found objects.
