Open Call for Instagram Takeovers

Would you like to share your work with the Impressions community? We are looking for emerging photographers based in the UK to take over our Instagram feed @ImpGalleryPhoto.

Each of the 5-day takeovers will give you a platform to present your work on the Instagram account of an acclaimed photography organisation, directly to our followers. You’ll collaborate with Deepa Naranbhai, Impressions’ Projects Coordinator, to create a professional Instagram campaign to showcase your project. We’ll also pay a fee of £100 in recognition of each takeover.

By ’emerging photographer’ we mean someone at the beginning of their photography career (whatever age that may be). You might be a student or recent graduate, a keen enthusiast, or someone who loves photography and is just starting out.

Previous takeovers by established photographers include Mandy Barker, Marc Wilson, Trish Morrissey, and Maryam Wahid.

Themes

We are looking to share projects that respond to one of 3 themes:

Journeys: Exploring place, belonging, migration and journeys through time.
A New Generation: Using photography as a tool for expression, interrogating contemporary ideas and story-telling through the eyes of today’s youth.
Unbound: Diverse, contemporary practices, experimental and playful work that breaks boundaries.

Please include;

A few sentences about yourself
Why you consider yourself an emerging photographer
Which theme you are interested in and how your work relates to it
A link to your portfolio or Instagram profile.

The takeovers will be starting in Autumn running through to Spring, we’d love to see your work, so please get in touch if you’d like to be involved!

Submission deadline 14 September 2026, midday 12:00pm.
