Impressions is delighted to be commissioned by Bradford Live to create the Bringing the Beat Back to Bradford exhibition.
Originally built in 1930, and located in the heart of the city, the magnificent building previously known as the Bradford Odeon is being restored to its former glory as an entertainment hub for the city.
Ahead of the building’s re-opening, Impressions is embarking on a major new project to uncover the many memories that were made within its walls. We are inviting members of the public to submit their memories of the building through images, memorabilia and oral histories. This mass participation project will result in a crowd-sourced exhibition opening in the gallery in 2022.
Bradford Live is a not-for-profit distribution company formed in 2012 to find a long term viable use for the historic former Odeon building in Bradford city centre which has been derelict since 2000. In October 2022, following extensive refurbishment, the iconic building will be re-opening to the public as a brand new venue for the people of Bradford and Yorkshire.
Want to get involved?
There are two ways you can get involved in Bringing the Beat Back to Bradford:
- By submitting your memories – Bringing the Beat Back to Bradford is an exhibition made by you. Do you remember dancing at The New Victoria, seeing an iconic band at the Gaumont, or watching a classic film at the Odeon? We want to hear from you! Find out more on the Call for Memories page.
- As a project participant – we need a team of dedicated participants to help us deliver this project, by recording oral histories, delivering ‘scan-athon’ workshops and researching in local archives. Find out more on the Project Participant page.
