Learn how to make black and white prints using a natural beer based developer in this sustainable photogram workshop run by Lisa Holmes of Keighley Photo Hub CIC.
A photogram is a photographic image made without a camera by placing objects directly onto the surface of a light-sensitive material such as photographic paper and then exposing it to light.
The beer-based developer used in this workshop is the result of a collaboration between Keighley Photo Hub CIC and Brass Castle Brewery, funded by the Arts Council, to explore how waste from the brewing industry can be utilised to create a sustainable and reliable alternative to traditional chemistry-based darkroom developer.
During the workshop you will learn how to produce photograms using expired photography paper, which will then be processed in a beer-based developer. You will also have an opportunity to talk to Lisa about her research in this area and ask any questions.
You are welcome to bring along any small flat items you may like to use in your photogram, ideally something of significance to you. This could be natural objects, such as leaves and flowers, material such as lace or even old negatives or slides. We will also be providing objects to use should you need them.
All other materials will be provided.
Booking essential, book via Art Tickets or call the gallery on 01274 737843.
12 places available, tickets are £5.
An earlier session of this workshop will run from 10am to 10.45am.
Sponsored by Brass Castle Brewery.
