Open Call for photographers – Picturing England’s High Streets — Impressions Gallery

Are you a photographer based in Coventry, Stoke, Chester or Prescot – or know somebody who is? This opportunity could be for you!

Impressions Gallery is part of Picturing England’s High Streets led by Photoworks working in partnership with Historic England and photography organisations nationally.

We are excited to announce the first four Open Calls for Picturing England’s High Streets, a major commission with Historic England that will see six artists undertaking residencies at high street locations across England. The Open Calls for the photographer-in-residence programmes are linked to specific High Streets Heritage Action Zones, working with partners GRAIN Projects in Coventry and Stoke, and Open Eye Gallery in Chester and Prescot.

We are looking for photographers whose practice is socially-engaged to work with local communities to reimagine the high street, producing images which will become part of the Historic England Archive. The selected photographers will work with local communities to create a contemporary portrait of England’s high streets between now and 2024.

The photographer-in-residence programmes will also include mentoring support delivered by Impressions Gallery, PARC (Photography and the Archive Research Centre)RedeyeReFramed and The Photographers’ Gallery.
