Ripple: virtual reality experience

The unintended life of plastic at sea

Step inside Mandy Barker’s photographs and explore marine plastic pollution through virtual reality in this brand new, immersive experience.

For over a decade, Mandy Barker has worked at the intersection of art and science to reveal the global crisis of marine plastic pollution. For the very first time, her work has been realised in virtual reality thanks to a team of eight students from Stanford University, California.

For the past year, the experience has been built, tested and refined by Stanford students, under the guidance of Professor Geri Migielicz, to create a brand new experience to be appreciated alongside Mandy Barker’s exhibition, Our Plastic Ocean.

Ripple has been designed on a platform for everyone to access, if you can’t make it to the gallery, the experience can be enjoyed at home on laptops, phones, and virtual reality headsets, including Google Cardboard, by visiting rippleplastic.com
