Anne McNeill, Director of Impressions Gallery has been announced as the 2022 recipient of the Royal Photographic Society Curatorship Award.
The Royal Photographic Society Awards are the world’s longest running and most prestigious photography accolades. Now in its 144th year, the awards recognise individuals working across both still and moving image. The Awards celebrate significant achievements, showcase new and emerging talent, and highlight notable contributions from RPS members. The 2022 recipients tell remarkable stories, and their work is a testament to the power of photography to inspire, uplift, incite change and bring about personal, social, and cultural wellbeing.
The Curatorship Award recognises excellence over a period of time in the field of photographic curatorship, through exhibitions and associated events and publications.
Anne McNeill has played a role in British photography as curator, editor and writer in a career spanning nearly four decades. She began her career in the darkrooms at Camerawork in 1984, became founding Director of Photoworks in 1995, and was the Artistic Director of Photo 98, the UK Year of Photography. Since 2000, Anne is the Director of Impressions Gallery, a charity that helps people understand the world through photography and acts as an agent for change.
