Meet Mark Nicholson, author of The People’s Palace: The Story of Bradford’s New Vic as he hosts this Book Launch and Signing in our bookshop. 

This new publication documents the history of Bradford’s iconic former Odeon building, and brings together extensive research, interviews, and photographs, many of which have never been published before.

At 12:00pm, Mark will be introduced by Kirsten Branston from Bradford Live, who will touch on their commitment to share the building’s history through the book and a wider programme of heritage activity.

Mark will then give a short talk about his journey of writing The People’s Palace, which he began in 2008 when the building was still under threat of demolition. He will also be joined by special guests Reuben Davison, the creator of a new website about the Gaumont era; and Terry Pearson, Chairman of The Cinderella Club.

A book signing will then take place in our bookshop from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

The People’s Palace: The Story of Bradford’s New Vic is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and is available from our bookshop for a suggested donation of £10+. All proceeds will go to The Cinderella Club, a Bradford based charity that helps children throughout the district.
