Join us for free tea and cake and at this friendly, social morning in the gallery.
Come and enjoy our current exhibition Bringing the Beat Back to Bradford, which looks back on the history of the much-loved building previously known as the New Victoria, the Gaumont, and Bradford Odeon.
Get ready to jive as we take you back to the 1950’s and 60s with a special playlist of the bands and musicians that played at the Gaumont.
At 12.30pm there will be a short talk about the exhibition, with a chance to hear from some of the local people who have been working with us over the last year to collect people’s photographs and stories of the building.
Share your own memories
Do you remember dancing at the New Victoria, seeing an iconic band at the Gaumont, or watching a classic film at the Odeon? Do you have photographs, concert tickets, cinema stubs, posters or other mementoes of the building’s past? If so you are welcome to bring them along.
Throughout this event, our friendly staff and volunteers will be on hand to scan your items or make a short audio recording of your memory. Come and make new friends, share your stories and become part of a growing digital archive of images, memorabilia and oral histories.
Free event, drop in.
